| Q: I am very excited to learn about much more things. I have a question that a Christian can be a 'Dalal' then why not he can involve in some of his own business like having soft/hard drinks, etc. Doesn't he take any drinks? If it is only for the reason to survive then why do all of you are being so mannerless? If possible, please reply me. Aayusha/ 30 August 2009 |
A: Thank you very much Aayusha for your questions which are very interesting. Here, Nepali word ‘Dalal’ is ‘broker’ in English. And broker is a person who helps a seller and a buyer to make businesses possible. After the business done he gets commission from the seller. If a broker does his business honestly and legally then it is acceptable. A Christian can be a ‘broker’ or a ‘Dalal’ in this sense.
Concerning the soft or hard drinks, we will see what the Bible says. “Be ye not drunk with wine, wherein is excess, but be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18). “Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise” (Proverbs 20:1). These are some examples what the Bible says about the drinks. And God doesn’t want his people to have such drinks. I don’t fully understand what you were supposed to say concerning the manner. But it is true that God wants his people to live in a manner that pleases God. For God says, “But as he, which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation” (1 Peter 1:15).
